(NaturalNews) One of the most efficient ways to rule a populace has been through the surreptitious and unconscious creation of dissension amongst its people. Modern society has been inherently established and subsequently reinforced to create an us versus them mentality which continually focuses on individual differences at the expense of individual similarities. Historically, dividing a population has been a very potent and successful psychological weapon as many nations subsequently use this tactic to justify war, malnutrition and death through the inculcation of fear and divisiveness.

Keating 5 ring a bell?

Once upon a time, a politician took campaign contributions and favors from a friendly constituent who happened to run a savings and loan association. The contributions were generous: They came to about $200,000 in today's dollars, and on top of that there were several free vacations for the politician and his family, along with private jet trips and other perks. The politician voted repeatedly against congressional efforts to tighten regulation of S&Ls, and in 1987, when he learned that his constituent's S&L was the target of a federal investigation, he met with regulators in an effort to get them to back off. That politician was John McCain, and his generous friend was Charles Keating, head of Lincoln Savings & Loan. While he was courting McCain and other senators and urging them to oppose tougher regulation of S&Ls, Keating was also investing his depositors' federally insured savings in risky ventures. When those lost money, Keating tried to hide the losses from regulators by inducing his customers to switch from insured accounts to uninsured (and worthless) bonds issued by Lincoln's near-bankrupt parent company. In 1989, it went belly up -- and more than 20,000 Lincoln customers saw their savings vanish.

That H.R. 1955 will specifically target the 9/11 Truth community is made obvious by a presentation made to the House Homeland Security Subcommittee in 2007 on "Terrorism and the Internet" which actually listed 9/11 Truth sites alongside terrorist jihad sites as examples of terrorist propaganda on the internet.

Putin: U.S. Provoked Georgian Conflict

Russia remained embroiled in a diplomatic war of words Friday after Prime Minister Vladimir Putin accused the United States of provoking the conflict in Georgia.

President Dmitry Medvedev held talks with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rakhmon in Dushanbe as he sought international support and was to visit a Russian military base in the former Soviet republic.

The United States said it was sending another warship to Georgia with humanitarian aid and was reconsidering an agreement on civilian nuclear cooperation with Russia. Putin, the powerful former Kremlin leader, said the US administration had a hand in the five-day war between Russian and Georgian forces and drew a link with the US presidential campaign.

There were Americans in the conflict zone “doing as they were ordered, and the only one who can give such orders is their leader”, Putin said.“If my guess is right, then it raises the suspicion that someone in the US specially created this conflict to worsen the situation and create an advantage in the competitive struggle for one of the candidates for the post of president of the United States,” he told CNN television.

“They needed a short, victorious war,” he said.

Democrat sues Sen. Obama over 'fraudulent candidacy'

A prominent Pennsylvania Democrat has sued Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission, claiming that Obama is not a natural-born citizen and, therefore, is not eligible to be president of the United States.

Philip J. Berg, a former member of Pennsylvania's Democratic State Committee and former deputy attorney general of Pennsylvania, filed the lawsuit this week in U.S District Court, asking the court to declare Obama ineligible for the presidency and to prevent him from running for the position.

America: Freedom to Fascism - Director's Authorized Version

Biden pick shows lack of confidence

The candidate of change went with the status quo.

In picking Sen. Joe Biden to be his running mate, Barack Obama sought to shore up his weakness - inexperience in office and on foreign policy - rather than underscore his strength as a new-generation candidate defying political conventions.

He picked a 35-year veteran of the Senate - the ultimate insider - rather than a candidate from outside Washington, such as Govs. Tim Kaine of Virginia or Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas; or from outside his party, such as Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska; or from outside the mostly white male club of vice presidential candidates. Hillary Rodham Clinton didn't even make his short list.

The picks say something profound about Obama: For all his self-confidence, the 47-year-old Illinois senator worried that he couldn't beat Republican John McCain without help from a seasoned politician willing to attack. The Biden selection is the next logistical step in an Obama campaign that has become more negative - a strategic decision that may be necessary but threatens to run counter to his image.

Tommy Chong gets the last laugh on Bush administration

Tommy Chong's glory days of starring as the latter half of the pothead comedy act Cheech & Chong were decades behind him.And then he went to prison. A documentary, "a/k/a Tommy Chong," on how he was jailed for his reputation, part of a nationwide sting aimed at sellers of pot paraphernalia, has won awards at film festivals. The movie comes out on DVD Tuesday."You do not have to approve of drugs to be offended" at how Chong was treated, critic Roger Ebert wrote.Selective prosecutionChong became a symbol for victims of the politicized Bush Justice Department, which followed up its "selective prosecution" of Chong by seizing 10,000 copies of the DVD last May, even though he doesn't profit from the film."The Justice Department? They're my best career boosters," Chong jokes.Chong's stand-up act was re-invigorated. His long-estranged partner, Cheech Marin, agreed to re-form their act and take it on the road. But there's a cautionary tale in Chong's story. We reached him at his home in Pacific Palisades, California.'No American is safe'Question: Why should the average American care about what happens to a guy who's famous for what you're famous for?Answer: The American Dream is based on "the pursuit of happiness." The government found a way to take that away from me, and by incarcerating me for putting my name on water pipes, they can selectively prosecute anybody. Somehow, sending a piece of glass through the mails, or "conspiring" to send it, is a crime. If they can lock me up for that, no American is safe.Q.: The film shows us that your son's company was lured, tricked into shipping pipes to a state where they're not allowed. Is there anything, in retrospect, that you could have done differently?A.: They were determined to get me, and that's why I went to jail. Had I been a criminal, I would've been protected. I'm just an American citizen who got caught up in a PR campaign by the Bush administration. But I'm their bad karma, by the way. They arrested a popular guy. And everybody wants to hear my story. Now I've got a DVD, Cheech and I are touring. I do interviews about the why and how of what they did all the time. I'm that headache that won't go away for them.Q.: What was the low point for you?A.: Oh, that first night in jail. I had a bad, bad attack of claustrophobia. There was a prisoner in the bunk above me, one off to the side. They're men, so they're making men sounds. I could hear the doors being locked. I had a real panic attack. Then, I got calm. I felt "the presence." After that first night, I had the best experience of my life.Q.: When did it start seeming funny to you?A.: That next day. It was like going on a cruise, because every dude in there knew who I was. If they didn't know the records or movies, they knew the TV ("That '70s Show") show. The prison thought they were punishing me more, putting me right across the hall from the bathroom. But I'm an old guy. That came in handy!

Authorities said that was a false alarm and there was no powder in that envelope. At least 19 people were examined at hospitals or were quarantined outside the Colorado office while authorities tried to determine whether the powder was hazardous.Andy Lyon of Parker South Metro Fire Rescue Authority said the return address on the envelope listed the Arapahoe Detention Center and the name of an inmate. He didn’t release the name.Lyon said the first line of the letter used threatening language, but he refused to give any details.McCain’s campaign had said the letter sent to the Manchester, N.H., office also contained a threatening language and white powder. But Malcolm Wiley, a Secret Service spokesman in Colorado, said there was no powder in the New Hampshire envelope.
